Activity Holidays Guide : A Range Of Options
In this installment of our activity holidays guide we look at the different types of activity holidays available.
There are different types of activity holidays that can fit almost everyone’s needs. There is bicycling, winter-time, wilderness, special interest, and of course thrill-seeking.
Some of the most popular trips for thrill seekers include rafting, caving, or even rock climbing for those inclined. There are plenty of multi-activity holidays where you can spend a day or two doing each until moving on or you can just stick with one. These are an ideal way to challenge yourself and to have new and exciting experiences.
Have a great adventure by going into various locales like jungles, deserts, plateaus, mountains and tundra with our great wilderness holidays. You can visit almost any continent to find these terrains, some of the best deserts are the Sahara, Namib, and the Gobi while jungles are found in America, India, or Africa; there are plenty of mountain ranges all around the world while the Antarctic and the Outback are great for adventurers. Such trips are generally made up of trekking, camping, survival skills courses, and lessons on the people, cultures and wildlife you’ll come across.
Ski cross country and downhill, go snowboarding, you can even go with the lesser tried ones such as dog sledding or snow mobiling. These are often offered in more unusual and unspoiled locations than you would normally see them advertised and allow you to escape the crowds that you would normally come across.
Cycling can be done almost all year round using a wide variety of bicycles and terrains; these include mountain or hybrid bikes and maybe hills or flat land. Just like mountains for skiing, bicycle trails are graded on a scale due to their difficulty and how the trial is laid out, off or on road.
Special interest holidays are available for those with a real interest and passion in one subject or a range of subjects. Some of these will be intense like yoga or archaeology, while others, such as photography and language learning are great for the mind. You will need to pick up a lot of knowledge throughout your trips and at one point you will become and expert in whatever you choose to pursue.
