NC Private Communities – Bald Head Island
Bald Head Island is private island living at it’s best. Located off the coast of North Carolina coast on the southern tip of the cape islands, this 12,000 acre private island community can only be reached by a ferry that runs from Southport, North Carolina every hour.
Beach homes overlook the beaches, waters and salt marshes that make up Bald Head Island. Homeowners and guests of the island travel by electric golf carts and bicycles by paved and unpaved paths. Guests can rent carts by the day while on their trip.
Bald Head Island features 14 miles of pristine, sandy beaches, an 18-hole championship golf course, two clubhouses, fitness facilities, tennis courts, swimming pools, a full-service marina, vast network of walking and biking trails meandering through the island, and a range of shops and restaurants.
The Bald Head Island 18-hole championship golf course is intermingled through a series of marshes, dunes, and maritime forests. Created by designer George Cobb, much of the terrain was left just as it was found.
Tennis lovers can enjoy four soft-surface tennis courts located next to the golf clubhouse. Private workout rooms with mens and womens locker rooms available in both clubhouses. A deluxe 25-meter swimming pool is located at the clubhouse. In addition, a second swimming complex with a lap pool, and shallow children’s pool is located at the Shoals Club.
The ten acre Bald Head Island harbor and marina has boat slips from 30 to 100 feet in length. From the marina residents have access to the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean.
If food is your passion, there are options for either casual and fine dining, or shop at the fully stocked grocery store to prepare a quiet meal at home.
Bald Head Island is an incorporated town with a paid fire and police department. All island firefighters are also paramedic certified. The main fire department has a medical treatment room is available if needed. If an emergency occurs, medical transportation to a local hospital on the mainland is available.
Bald Head Island has single family homes, townhouses, villas, and home sites for sale through the islands real estate office. Prices vary based on the size and amenities available There are also fractional ownership options available with prices ranging from $150,000 and up.
