Travel to the Serengeti in August and you can bare witness to the Circular Migration

The Serengeti National Park has a mass of different animal species and is very beautiful. This land is located up in the north west section of Tanzania. People come to the Serengeti just to marvel at it’s land, animals and general beauty. In order to really know what the Serengeti is all about, we need to look at some of the most important and famous parts of this place.

The word Serengeti is actually derived from the Maasai language meaning “endless plains”. The Maasai were a very strong and respected people that populated the Serengeti and when Europeans first visited these lands, they left the animals alone in the Serengeti to avoid aggravating the local people. The term Serengeti fits this national park very well because it has an area of just over 30,000 kilometres squared.

The main event that the Serengeti is famous for is the Circular Migration. Called many other things, this Migration occurs every year from late July through to early October. Going in search of the rains that travel up through the Serengeti, 2 million herbivores will cross through the Mara River. They continue up into the Masai Mara reserve, a popular destination for Kenya holidays and safaris.

The Serengeti also has its very own active volcano called Ol Doinyo Lengai. Becuase this volcano is still active, it has lava flows and ejects ash as well, this in turn damages plants and even prevents plant growth. Tanzania contains around five hundred and fifty Avifauna, or as most of us know them, bird species.

If you are interested in going on a safari, this is one of the places that should be at the top of your list. Some people may want to see the Circular Migration, so you need to try and arrive at the ideal times, being august and September.

So why don’t you leave home and embark on an adventure on Tanzania holidays or Zambia holidays, you won’t be at all disappointed.

Your next holiday could take you to Zanzibar, and why not?

The other name that is well known of Zanzibar is the Spice Island. Zanzibar at one point created 80%of the worlds refined spices, now because it has had to change with modernisation of its country, only produces 20%. Slowly becoming a huge tourist attraction, Zanzibar’s tourism industry is now one of its biggest money spinners. Here are a list of some of the things should see, and do when you get to Zanzibar:

First and foremost you have to go and visit the Spice refining factories; Zanzibar holidays are famous for these. Travelling around the Islands is a must do and you can have the opportunity to travel around the island to view the spice factories for about 6 pounds.

If you want a more in-depth and emotional experience, you can go and visit the old Slave Market. This does present us with the darker side of Zanzibar’s history but presents us with the realistic way in which the world used to be. If you do get the chance to go on this tour, you should be very keen to go, it gives great in depth history of the Island.

Head over to the eastern side of the island and find yourself looking over sandy beaches. Over here you can find people everywhere offering to take you out Scuba Diving, and with so many different diving destinations off the coast of this island you definitely won’t be getting bored.

Just for your information though, these people come from a very respectful and religious culture. It is recommended to keep limbs covered with clothing in public, and try not to smoke or chew gum in-front of people, this is considered insulting. It is considered polite to avoid eating during daylight when Ramadan is on, even if you don’t engage in it. This will show that you respect them as a people and they are very accommodating.

Go and enjoy a Zanzibar holiday or travel to the mainland for Botswana holidays or Namibia holidays as well.

How I Went on a Dream Safari

I am 30 years old and my story began when I was small, I have always had a fascination for seeing animals and wildlife it was just so overwhelming I honestly could not get enough of it. I used to bug my parents to take me to the zoo every week. When we used to go I did love to bring a long my camera with me so that I could record all of the fascinating animals. Within a few years my bedroom wall was covered full of fascinating images.

When I went to college I continued to study art and photography, I decided not to go to university and instead got a job down the local sea life centre. The job I was in was outstanding, I was doing a job that I loved but somehow it did not feel like it was enough.

When I turned 25 I received the best gift ever from my parents, safari holidays were an up and coming trend, but to be honest I could have never afforded to go. Once I got my tickets I was totally happy.

Once I arrived on my Kenya holidays I just felt that I belonged to be here. This feeling just grew and grew the more time I spent there. Personally I did not want to return back home, I mean the weather was better, the people were nicer and I could take advantage of my photography. So do you know what? I did decide to to return to my home country, although I do miss the people close to me I have had 5 happy years in Kenya.

I was born to be part of nature and that is where I want to stay, I am also earning a great bit of money by selling on my wildlife photos, but not everything is about the money.

A Child Eaten by a Hungry Crocodile

Dinosaurs were made extinct millions of years ago, but there are still some animals that replicate there structure and personality one comes in the form of a Konodo dragon and the more popular Crocodiles.

The two species can be tremendously deadly if they manage to get hold of a mammal or human. They are very cold blooded species who sneak up and grab there target when they are close enough. The aspect that is most dangerous when talking about Crocodiles is that they launch and attack humans before they have time to react.

Crocodile cause deaths are on the increase, more though in Australia, but recently news has occured that a five year olds body has been found in a crocodile. The child in question was someone called Jeremy Doble was last seeing playing with his brother in his home.

Police have confirmed that after the crocodile was stuck in the swamp it caught and attack the boy. His brother Ryan saw the crocodile shortly after and informed the authorities, after a non lethal surgical procedure the crocodile has remains in his stomach.

But the childs family are stating that they do not in no way want the crocodile to be killed, but rather taken to a zoo. This shows us that dinosaurs may be extinct but there are still species around that replicate them to the fullest. The entire planet used to be full of creatures that killed millions of years ago but evolution has stopped this and made the world a better place. So if you are thinking of going on safaris or Australian or a Kenya holidays then be very careful of getting to close to the deadly animals. So remember to always stay safe on your safari holidays.

Look out for Animals on Safari

Anyone in the world dreams of going on a safari adventure, but it is not so far away from becoming a reality. Now more than ever travel agents are offering a wide range of Safari Holidays at very affordable rates. So you have decided to go, but what can you expect to see on your journey?

Well lets take a look at a few animals that you may well come across on your journey.

First and foremost there is the large animals, there will be a whole variety of them and you are bound to see the common Giraffes, Oryx and Plains Zebras, they are great and you will come across them probably hundreds of times on your trip. But you should want to catch a glimpse of the smaller and rare animals.

In Africa there are around 300 different bird species to come across. Some animals are quite dangerous so take care. Also make sure that you check to see if you need any jabs before you leave.

What You Take on Your Trip?

After deciding to go on Safari, you have to then turn your mind to what you are actually going to pack. You will probably be dropped off in a vehicle so you could pack a few bits and bobs into the boot. But when leaving the vehicle you will have a big trek of a walk so only pack the essentials such as drinks and cameras. Try not pack a lot of clothes as you will probably end up ruining your journey. The reason I say this is because carrying a heavy bag in the heat will only make the walk a misery. Sometimes it’s so hot that you will not even want to wear much.

Depending on the safari adventure you have chosen, you may have some nice accommodation to stay in such as a lodge or hotel. If you have chosen a wildlife package you may want to camp it out. So the provider’s should really supply you with some tents.

If you are there to experience the full impact I do recommend in camping, there is nothing more enjoyable than finding your way to your camp site and then creating a fire to heat the air up and then finally waking up in the morning and finding your way to a waterfall to freshen up. Holidays to Africa are great for the whole family.
