How much longer will the tourist industry be operating in the Polar Bear City?
Churchill is on the shoreline of the west coast of Canada. Recently this holiday has become more and more popular. Does this mean that it could be damaged climate change?
Churchill is most famous for its population of Polar bears, who visit every year around autumn to escape the receding ice flows. The polar bears then ram around as they want to, taking over Churchill. Because of this Churchill has been named the Polar Bear capital of the world. This has helped boost the tourist industry around the area, and now tour operators offer Canada tours dedicated to this area, to show people the stunning environment.
Churchill is also a very rare area; this is because it is an Ecotone. An Ecotone is a environmental phenomenon where there is an abrupt change in environmental circumstances. Basically it stands on a border between three very different environments. To the southern region is the Boreal Forest, towards the north west you will find the Tundra like conditions, and directly to the north is the Hudson Bay area. It is also a perfect location to see the Aurora Borealis. Not only does this area have all these attributes, it is also home to the Beluga whales in summer, over 57,000 of them, and has a very extensive amunt of bird fauna that cover the whole area.
Churchill has become extremely reliant on the tourism industry, but how long will it be able to support tourists. The simple way to put it, is that Churchill is on the border between three dramatic climate and environmental differences. The tourism industry will fail. Canada holidays benefit greatly from this environmental phenomenon, but how much longer will it last. Alaska Cruises also circle round to this area, so maybe that holiday is better sooner rather than later.
Is a an Adventure holiday the holiday for yu?
If you have been thinking about going on a holiday this year but you’re not sure which holiday is best for you, here are two holidays at either end of the spectrum for you. If you really can’t make that decision about which holiday suits you best, don’t be scared to call the tour operators to find out what is happening in the local area.
Well let’s start off with sunny locations in the Caribbean, more specifically St Lucia. This has become one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. This is a very enticing place to go, the white sands and the glorious blue sea are enough to convince anybody to travel there. The resorts and beaches are of massively high quality, and it is a great place to relax.
This holiday is designed for those that want to chill out and enjoy the rays of the sun. It doesn’t take much effort at all, all you need to do is grab a nice spot on the beach and spend a good 7 days lazing having a few drinks. Everyone can savor a nice drink by the sea. There is more to St Lucia than just the beaches, sea and sun, you can also head into the island and see some of the restaurants and bars.
Now if you still don’t think that the Caribbean is convincing enough, then consider this. Canada holidays offer some of us the more outgoing and adventure style holidays. Although there are places to relax like on an Alaska Cruise, the country of Canada is more set around helping you to enjoy life by taking you on a journey. You will find Canada a very quaint and elegant location, until you visit some of the cities, they will blow you away, the night life is amazing. It was long debated who owned the Niagara falls, the Americans or the Canadians, but they are split into two, Canada has the Horseshoe falls. Fly Drive Canada Holidays have also become a popular consideration for tourists from across the world.
Both Destinations have something to offer to everyone, but personally the Canada holiday is for me, it gives so much to any tourist that visits.
Go Kayaking, gold searching, montain climbing, all in Canada!
If you want a stunning location in Canada, Yukon is a great place to start. The name Yukon comes from the Yukon River which in turn means Great River. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Yukon; the Gold Rush. Canadian holidays have benefited in a massive way thanks to Yukon’s diverse history and activities.
The Klondike Gold Rush really kicked off in the 19th century. It then became apparent that rumours were flying about that Gold could be found down the Klondike highway and in nearby rivers. Quite literally a rush, people from all over the world came to Klondike to find gold. In 1897 it was decided that if the amount of people was going to continue rising due to the rumours of gold, a police force needed to be set up.
The NWMP or the North West Mountain Police was created to help bring order to the Gold Rush situation. Constantine was a man asked by the Canadian government to set up a police force, to control the Gold Rush, these were the Mounties. The Mounties were responsible for many different duties including being personal guard to the Monarch. Although they were successful at keeping the peace they did allow some illegal activities to continue such as gambling and prostitution.
Today the Mounties are still a well established force and respected throughout Canada, they are very much a large piece of Canada’s history. “We always catch our man”, this was the Motto that the Mounties were very famous for, they were well known for being able to catch anyone they hunted.
Yukon’s tourism is one of its biggest money spinners and has 100’s of activities ranging from canoeing and kayaking, to skiing and snowboarding. So go to Yukon and see if you can find some gold, there is a fantastic Alaska cruise that travels from Yukon through Alaska.
Canada receives a lot of hype about its adventure hikes, but what about its waterfall?
When you visit Canada you must visit Niagara. The Niagara Falls, although one large waterfall are technically split into two, one on the Canadian side of the border and one on the American.
The American Falls is on the American side of Niagara Falls and the Horseshoe Falls are on the Canadian side. The better looking and the more awe inspiring of the two Falls is the Horseshoe falls. These falls are in a half moon shape, when the water falls into the gorge it causes a mist, known as the maid of the mist. These water falls bring in a massive amount of tourism to the local and surrounding areas and have become a popular travel destination for everyone around the world. Canadian holidays have become much more popular since the Falls have been exploited.
You can travel right up to the Falls on a guided tour boat, just make sure that you are wearing some water proof clothing and it might be a good idea to take an umbrella with you as well. For one person though this wasn’t enough and she decided to get even more acquainted with the Horseshoe Falls. 1901, Annie Taylor, popped inside a Barrel and rolled over the edge of the water fall. The items she used to make the barrel were Oak, Iron and she had a mattress to make it more comfortable. She was the first person to go over the falls in a barrel and survive as well, without many injuries. Annie Taylor was then heard and quoted saying; “I would caution anyone against this feat, I would rather stand at the mouth of a cannon knowing it was going to blow me up, than attempt another trip over the falls”.
These falls are amazing and truly stunning to observe and any trip to Canada deserves to go there. It is even possible to go cruising down the Niagara river and Alaska cruise have helped to accomplish this.
Canada has been said to hold the World’s greatest outdoor show
Well now I can tell you what it is that many others across thew world call the Calgary Stampede. The Calgary Stampede is known as the greatest outdoor show on earth, and truly it is. And guess what, it will be running this year for ten days starting on the 3rd of July and finishing on the 12th.
Starting in 1912 the Calgary Stampede has become world renowned for its original and world famous events. The Calgary Stampede has shown the world some of the most amazing events in the world, it brings some real originality to the Canadian way of life. Events like the Rodeos and the Chuck-wagon’s weren’t really born in Canada but have really made their names there. The quickest way to explain what a Chuckwagon is, it’s a cart attached to several horses. Just like any other circular race, first one to the end, wins, the only difference is this can be quite dangerous.
The Grandstand at this event is amazing as well. The Calgary has so much to offer in way of professional dancers, singers, and world famous performers born in Canada. Famous figures like William Shatner have even made an appearance at the Calgary Stampede. Canadian holidays have become even more popular because of this event.
This place is anything but Dull, especially when you look through the brochure to find a show on the Grandstand stage called the “Wheel Of Death”. When you hear this, you know you have to pay them a visit. In basic terms, this wheel has several other wheels attached to it which are fitted in places, enough for an acrobat to fit inside. It is quite something really, the wheels spin round and the acrobats perform tricks inside them and around them.
So visit Canada and embark on an adventure, try an Alaska cruise and sail through Canada into Alaska.
