Lanzarote now even more accessible to holidaymakers

Holidaymakers keen to enjoy Lanzarote’s sun-drenched beaches, relaxed atmosphere and many entertainments will be pleased to hear about the launch of new flights to the island by Aer Lingus this autumn. If you’re looking to escape the harsh British autumn/winter, Lanzarote is the a great option. Year-round sunshine, stunning shoreline views and cheap hotels in Lanzarote are now more accessible than ever before, with new flight routes going from Gatwick to Arrecife airport three days a week.

The new route announcement follows news earlier in the year that the Spanish government will be offering discounts on airport taxes to airlines meeting certain criteria when flying to Spanish destinations. This is the government’s latest attempt to boost tourism, both on the mainland and surrounding islands, and there is the hope it will encourage other airlines to introduce new flights to the popular holiday spots. The tourism in Lanzarote, like many other European destinations, was hit hard last year after the turbulent down turn in the economy. Its airport saw a reduction of 3.3% in December 2008 compared with the same time the previous year, which raised concerns about the health of local tourism.

There’s no doubt the new route announced between London and Lanzarote will be welcome news to the island. Similarly, it is great news for eager sun-seekers too, as holidaymakers have the chance to enjoy a paradise island break at an affordable price. The new flights start from £34.99 one way, meaning this popular Canary Island destination is shaping up as an excellent choice this winter. There are great deals on Lanzarote hotels at the moment, making the holiday even more attractive. A bungalow for two in a four star resort, for example, costs as little as £14 per person per night this October, while all-inclusive hotels in Lanzarote can be found for around £27. So, with troubled financial times meaning great deals both in the air and on the ground, an autumn sunshine break is well within reach this year.

The early bird catches the discount hotel

With tough economic times continuing to bite, holiday companies are offering ever more tempting ways to stretch our holiday budgets further. One of these ways is to reward organised holiday-makers who book their holiday in advance with money off in the form of an ‘early bird discount’. These types of deals are being offered in destinations right across the globe, making cheap hotels in Egypt, the Canaries and the Balearics even more accessible.

If you fancy chilling out on a sun-drenched beach in the Canary Islands, for example, then the cheap hotels in Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura could be perfect for you. Tenerife is a particularly popular choice for tourists and is currently offering deals such as a junior suite in a four star hotel for under £21 per person per night in November if you book soon.

Meanwhile, if the Mediterranean is more your scene then you can head to Malta, where seven nights at an all inclusive resort this November is also around £21 per person per night, or self catering options can be booked for an enticing £5 per person per night.

Other popular Mediterranean option’s can be found in the shape of the Balearic Islands. Whether it’s Mallorca, Menorca or Ibiza that takes your fancy, you can enjoy great savings for booking in advance, with cheap hotels in Ibiza currently available for around £14 per person per night for a twin room in buzzing San Antonio Town.

For something completely different, you could head to the land of the Pharoahs, where there are plenty of cheap Sharm el Sheikh hotels to be found thanks to early bird discounts. Check into a four star resort in Sharm for just £10 per person per night, with all inclusive packages available for under £20 per person per night this November.
