House For An Art Lover

House For An Art Lover is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Glasgow. This incredible Art Nouveau house was originally designed by Glasgow’s most famous architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh who was aided by Margaret Macdonald, his talented wife.

Actually the design was an entry for a 1901 competition to create plans for a ‘House for an Art Lover’, however, the entry from Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife was disqualified from the competition on the grounds that it was submitted after the closing date. Luckily, more than 100 years later the house stands in Bellahouston Park due to the hard work of the engineer Graham Roxburgh and architect Professor Andy Macmillan. Building commenced in nineteen eighty nine, ceased for a short amount of time but resumed again in 1994 thanks to a collaboration between the Glasgow School of Art and the Glasgow City Council.

Bradford is located in West Yorkshire, a county of England in Britain.
